What do I do now?
1) If you have registered as a member and are under the age of 16, please go immediately to the "Application Section" in the side table and click on "Board Application". This will bring up an E-Mail form, please fill it out and submit the application. This application is for the purposes of letting us know who is under the age of 16, in the event Proboards comes and asks.
2) Please take a few moments and read the stickies and description of each board and sub-board, so you get familiar with this place.
3) Make sure your screen name is the one you wish to use, we do not allow name changes because of the confusion factor.
4. If you own a forum that is similar to ours, then feel free to affiliate with us. The purpose of advertising forums, or directories, are for the members and guests of Proboards to utilize... therefore we are not in competition with such boards.
5. It is not necessary to show the sig image in every post. therefore I have added a code that will show each person's sig only once per thread. Signatures will appear always in the last post you made in each thread. We also ask you not to use flashing images as an avatar and in your sig.
How do I add an image in my sig line?
One question asked quite often is how to add a picture to your sig.
First you need an account like www.photobucket.com
Go there and register. It's free.
When you paste a pic into your post or your sig, make sure you put [ img ] before the url (without any spaces) and put [ /img ] behind the url - again, without the spaces. I only put the spaces because it won´t show here otherwise.
When you add a picture to your ava, you don´t put these codes before and after, just the url.
What about resizing images?
This is for everyone who doesn´t know how to re-size an image and who doesn´t have a fancy tool at their disposal but just good old "Paint".
Right-click on the image that is on your computer and select "open with" and click on "Paint".
When in "Paint", click on "Picture" and choose "Stretch". Now you see two boxes (horizontal and vertical position) with each 100%.
If, for example, you want to make your picture smaller by a third, then delete the 100% and type in the number 70 (the number you put in, is the size you want to have, not the amount you want to take away) and press the OK button. (Type the number 50 in, if you want to reduce the pic size by half).
Now you will see your picture has reduced in size.
If you are happy with the result, save it as, if you want to keep the original size picture - otherwise just press "save".
If you want a larger image, just add to the 100%. Say you want the pic to be a little larger, type for example the number 120, and press the OK button.
Experiment with it, you can always cancel the new size by reversing what you have done.
I Can´t log in?
I have noticed that people sometimes have trouble logging in. There could be a simple reason for that - it may be a cookie problem.
The same goes if you have to keep logging in, instead of staying logged in. It probably just means that your internet privacy settings are set too high and will not allow a cookie to be placed onto your computer for the next time to just come straight in.
To get it fixed, go to
Tools --> Internet options --> Privacy
and lower the slider bar.
Of course, you have to make sure that you tick the "Always stay logged in" box, otherwise it won´t work.
Please make sure your friends know about this if they want to register so they don´t have the same problem.
Here is some more info regarding logging in that I got from the Support Board:
"I log in fine, but when I click a link it logs me out!"
A) Your browser is not accepting cookies properly. First check to make sure you have cookies enabled. Also, in Internet Explorer 6 you need to make sure that you have 3rd Party Cookies enabled.
Your members need to enable cookies, tell them to do the following:
Click on tools on the menubar on your browser
Click on Internet Options on the drop menu
On the window that pops up, click on the privacy tab
Put the arrow and track so that the arrow is on low
Click ok
This will enable third party cookies:
Click on tools on the menubar on your browser
Click on Internet Options on the drop menu
On the window that pops up, click on the security tab
Click on the custom button
On the little window that pops up, scroll down to where it says cookies, and make sure the radio button is in the enabled position
Click save
Didn´t get a password?
Apparently, this happens quite a lot with Hotmail users. Just check first if the password wasn´t redirected to your junk mail - this happens when you are using your filter.
I hope this is of help to everyone who has had trouble staying logged in.
Why don't you have a board for coding or admin help?
The Bulletin Board is primarily an advertising board for Probard Message Boards. Almost everything on it is for the promotion of other Proboard Message Boards, we are not in competition with any other Probard Message Board and even welcome any and all other Proboard Directories to advertise here so that we can all do what is best for the Proboard Members.
For this reason we do not offer many exciting things on this board, we have put in a few general forums, but as far as any games we will add, they too will be an attempt to promote the other boards on Proboard. The intent will be to have a fun way to get Proboarders to familiarize themselves with other boards, their staff and what the boards offer us all.
The Staff and Management feel that to add codes to this board, or offer Admin Help, will violate our intent. There are so many excellent boards on Proboards which already do this, so why compete? Instead we will guide people to those boards to receive better help than they could receive here anyway.
OMG, IT'S PINK!!!! You need to change your skin!
"Why?"
To start with, I am not a pink person, in fact my favorite color is Blue. I also like Black and Gold. However, when showing off this board, back in December of 2007, someone suggested some colors and pink was one of them, so I decided to try some pink. I sort of liked Pink and Blue. However I went completely pink, figuring that it would get a laugh, at least. Surprisingly people seemed to like it.
Pink has sort of a calming effect and it is sort of pretty. Far too often pink is reserved for "Girly Boards" and I figured "Why not Pink? It's time to change that idea that Pink is only used by teen girls and such."
In the future we might change the board, but for now it's different... we all have to admit that. LOL
How do you determine who may Affiliate with you.
At some point we will have to be more selective about our affiliates... let's face it, there are over 2 million boards on Proboards and we can't affiliate with them all.
We will most likely create a section of the Affiliate Table for other Directories on Proboards. We already have our special thanks section for those boards we received the most help from. The rest will be affiliates.
We have no real system of selecting those affiliates, however we probably will allow so many boards from certain catagories to be placed on the affiliates table. We also will keep a good eye on whether those boards stay active or not, then replace certain affiliated boards from time to time and base the change on whether the board is still active or not.
Special thanks to Shentino and Valderra of the Admin's Retreat at vald.proboards22.com/ .
